While Kate did not report to me directly, she had a dotted line reporting during her initial Burberry Health & Safety Manager role, where she was responsible for our UK IM Manufacturing Heritage sites. Throughout this period, Kate led Burberry through the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring our sites and people remained safe, and was pivotal in evolving our Burberry ways of working and adapting our approach to safety, both locally and more broadly, in a time of ambiguity and uncertainty. During the initial CV19 outbreak I was seconded to the health and safety team to support the implementation of safety protocols. I reported to Kate and learned first hand her depth of knowledge, her leadership skills and calmness under pressure. On a personal note it was the most satisfying part of my career to date and the support and leadership I received from Kate where an integral part of that.
